Launch day! Idol Manager is finally out!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Jul 27, 2021 at 10:26:21 PM

Launch day is finally here! You heard right: Idol Manager is finally out! Huzzah!

Getting your copy of the game

All Kickstarter backers should have received an email containing a link to your personalized download page which contains your digital rewards. This should include both a key for itch.io and Steam key. (During the Kickstarter pledge process, we asked backers to select between versions of the game, but we've decided to give everyone keys for both Steam and itch.io at launch -- we'll elaborate more on why we chose to do this later in the post.)

If you've already been playing the beta version, simply updating your install to the latest version will give you the full retail release of Idol Manager. Regardless of whether you're on Steam, or itch.io, simply downloading the latest update will give you the release version of Idol Manager. And regardless of which platform you started on (or whether you participated in the beta at all), the email you just received should contain a link to a page showing both game keys that were issued to you.

If you didn't get an email with your game keys...

If you didn't receive the email containing a link to your digital download for Idol Manager, you can go to this page and enter the email address you pledged with to get a fresh link sent to your inbox. If that doesn't work, please message us directly for assistance and we'll be happy to help. (If possible, please message us directly through the Kickstarter platform.)

Info about save files

All versions of Idol Manager -- whether you're playing the itch.io version or the Steam version -- store save files in the same location. This also applies to beta versions of Idol Manager: if you played the beta, you can install the retail release version of the game and pick up right where you left off.

Clarifying the situation with the Steam release's age rating

In our previous update post earlier this month, we took the time to clarify some things regarding the intended age appropriateness of certain aspects of the game's content, with the most important point being that our intention was for Idol Manager's content to be consistent with what would receive a "Mature" rating from a ratings board like ESRB, who classifies "Mature" content as being "generally suitable for ages 17 and up."

It was not our intention to release Idol Manager as a game with content equivalent to ESRB "AO" (Adults Only) 18+ rating, and we tailored the game's content with this in mind, submitting a build to Steam that was intended to be consistent with what would  receive a "Mature" 17+ rating from a ratings board like ESRB, which we believed would allow it to exist on the Steam storefront much in the same way that many AAA video games with this age rating are sold.

Unfortunately, it seems that Steam came to a different conclusion, and several days ago, Steam made the decision to classify our game as "Adults Only."  We realize that this is problematic in several ways: first off, it greatly limits the visibility of our game in the Steam storefront, which very disappointing for us as creators. But even more important for our backers,  having the game classified as "Adults Only" on Steam means that it is unavailable in certain regions, including China and Germany.  (Steam region-blocks all "adult only" games in certain regions, which means that people in these regions are unable to even view the game's Steam page.)

In the days since this has happened, we have have done our utmost to comply with Steam's policies surrounding this, and our publisher has submitted the game to Steam for re-review. We're hopeful that once the review is complete, Steam will correctly re-classify our game's age rating.

Unfortunately, because this issue only came up last week, Steam's re-review of the game will not be finished until several days from now, meaning that for the moment, Steam continues to label the game as "Adults Only," preventing the game from being available in certain regions.

This certainly isn't how we wanted Idol Manager's launch day to go. Nonetheless, we're hopeful that this situation will be rectified within the next few days once Steam has had a chance to review the build we've submitted.

We will announce more information as soon as we are able to do so -- as the situation is still unfolding, we're unfortunately limited in the information we can share.  As such, request of our backers that you please be patient with us as we work toward a solution. We'll share more details as soon as we can.

As a reminder, we have chosen to give both Steam and itch.io keys for Idol Manager to all Kickstarter backers. If you are in one of the regions affected by the game's Steam classification, we hope that you are still able to play and enjoy the game, even if it isn't on your preferred platform for now.

Final reminder: if you pledged to have your name in the credits, please submit your name if you haven't already!

Several of Idol Manager's Kickstarter pledge tiers included "Your name in the credits" as one of the rewards. Most of you who pledged for these tiers have already submitted your name through the survey that was sent out, and everyone who submitted their name at least 16 hours before the game went live on Steam should have their name included in the game's credits at launch.

If you missed that deadline, it's still not too late! If you pledged for one of the reward tiers that includes having your name in the credits and you would like to be credited, please submit your name by August 2 and we'll add your name to the credits in the following patch.

If you didn't submit your name because you didn't receive the survey, please just message us directly through the Kickstarter platform with the name you would like to be credited as.

Other launch info

The following is mostly a recap of the information that we posted in our previous Kickstarter update earlier this month in anticipation of the game's launch, but to quickly re-iterate the important parts:

Idol Manager's French localization is delayed (but not canceled)

The game's French localization is not yet ready for launch, and as such, we've had to update the game's Steam page to remove mention of French support. We still have plans for French localization to arrive in a later patch -- we'll announce more about this as soon as we are able!

Nintendo Switch version

The Nintendo Switch version of the game is currently in pre-production, and active development will begin soon. Right now, we don't have more information -- our attention is focused on a number of issues that have cropped up around the PC release -- but in the future we'll be sharing more information about the Switch port (and when you can expect it).

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is still planned to be added in a post-launch patch. (This is still a feature that we're excited about, but because it's a stretch goal, we didn't want its inclusion to delay the release of the game.)

Mod support - editor update coming soon

We shipped an early version of the Idol Manager editor during the game's beta, and we've made several updates to it since then based on your suggestions and feedback. Within the next week, we intend to launch an updated version of the editor (and with that new version of the editor, we'll also be updating the accompanying documentation, which as some of you have noted has historically lagged behind the editor's current feature set).

New launch features

Voice acting and music tracks

As we previously announced, Idol Manager's release features the voice acting and musical talent of members of idol group Kamen Joshi!

Steam workshop support

While some of you have already been distributing the mods that you've created using the Idol Manager editor, sharing your creations (and seeing what people have made) is now easier than ever! We look forward to seeing our community's creations in the Steam workshop.

Steam achievements

There now are over 100 achievements for you to explore and conquer in Idol Manager. Can you figure out how to unlock all of them?

Thank you!

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped to make Idol Manager possible through their support. Idol Manager's Kickstarter campaign surpassed our wildest expectations, and we feel so incredibly fortunate to have the support of backers who have been cheering us along every step of the way.

This is a huge day for us, and we're incredibly excited to now have the opportunity to share our creation with the world, but we wouldn't be where we are today without all of you. Thank you all for being a part of Idol Manager's success, and please enjoy Idol Manager!

Idol Manager release info and announcements (Reminder: submit your name for the credits!)
over 3 years ago – Sat, Jul 17, 2021 at 12:59:17 AM

As Idol Manager's July 27 release date rapidly approaches, we have a few small announcements and some information for backers:

Kickstarter backers: respond to have your name included in the credits!

We recently sent out a survey to Kickstarter backers asking them to provide the name they would like to be credited under in the game's end credits. This applies to all backers in $25+ tiers. If you did not receive this email or have any questions about this, please message us directly as soon as possible so that you can be credited in the game's release!

Fortunately, most of you have already responded, but if you didn't receive the email in your inbox, check your email's "promotions" or "updates" folder, or search for an email coming from [email protected] (if you believe you should have received this email but didn't, please reach out to us directly by messaging us through Kickstarter so that we can resolve the situation). Feel free to contact us directly through Kickstarter if you have any questions. Thank you!

Important release information

Price update

This won't affect those of you who already backed the Kickstarter to get the game (or purchased to join the beta after the Kickstarter), but we have a small announcement to make regarding the game's launch price.

Back when we initially Kickstarted the game in 2018, we announced that we planned to launch Idol Manager for $15. Since then, the game has exploded in scope: besides simply adding more content to the game (with new outfit customization options, and a longer and more involved story mode), we've also been fortunate to partner with Playism as a publisher to add new features to the game, including the addition of voice acting from members of Akiba idol group Kamen Joshi.

Because Idol Manager has expanded so much from our original vision, we're planning a slight increase, with a planned launch price of $19.99 (USD, with price varying by region). We hope that's not a deal-breaker for anyone — and to help soften the price increase, the game will have a launch discount of 10%.

Delay in French localization

Some of you may have noticed that Idol Manager's Steam page was recently updated and removed the mention of French language support. We'd like to clarify that the French localization is only delayed, not canceled. Right now, the game's French localization effort is at a point where it wouldn't be ready for launch. Given the choice between delaying the game, or launching the game before the French localization is complete, we opted for the latter.

As such, French language support will be coming in a later update. We apologize for the delay!

Other localizations are unaffected. The game's July 27 release will include English, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese language support!

Updates on Stretch Goals

Some of the content additions that we promised as stretch goals were already added to Idol Manager during the game's beta period. That being said, we have a few updates on stretch goals, including some that we're still working on:

Nintendo Switch version

The Nintendo Switch version of the game is currently in pre-production, and active development will start after the game's PC release. We'll announce more information about the game's Nintendo Switch release date once we have a firm idea of when you can expect it.

Multiplayer

Currently, our plan is to release multiplayer support in a post-launch patch. (This is still a feature that we're excited about, but because it's a stretch goal, we didn't want its inclusion to delay the release of the game.)

Mod support

We shipped an early version of the Idol Manager editor during the game's beta, and we've been slowly updating it with new features based on your suggestions. As some of you have noted, the documentation for the editor is lagging behind the current editor's feature set.

We'll be releasing an update to the editor once the game is out, and we will update our documentation accordingly. Post-release, we'll be actively adding new features and quality-of-life adjustments to the game's modding tools based on your feedback.

We're thrilled that members of the community have already used the Idol Manager editor to release their own mods, and we look forward to seeing what our community comes up with when it comes to adding new dialog scenes, scandals, characters, music, portraits, and other images to the game!

Mature Content

One of our Kickstarter stretch goals was for "mature content," including scenes involving art of a more suggestive and risque nature: our intention for the "Mature Content" was for the content to match what would receive a "Mature" rating from a ratings board like ESRB, who classifies "Mature" content as being "generally suitable for ages 17 and up." In our December 2020 update, we achieved our plan for this stretch goal as part of the content included in a massive beta update which included the game's story mode, dating system, and a number of CGs that would elevate the game to a "Mature" 17+ rating in the eyes of a ratings board like ESRB.

The commercial release of Idol Manager on July 27 will include the same CGs that were included in the Steam version of the Idol Manager beta, which are those which were intended to be of a nature that would qualify for an ESRB rating of "Mature" (suitable for audiences ages 17 and up).  The full release of Idol Manager is not intended to include any material that would qualify for the equivalent of an ESRB "AO" 18+ (Adults Only) rating, or the equivalent of an "R18" rating from the British Board of Film Classification, nor is it our intent for the commercial release of Idol Manager on July 27 include anything that Kickstarter would define as "Pornographic material" (which is included on their list of "Prohibited Items"). We also have no plans to release such content after the game's release.

While Idol Manager's release does not have any plans to include any content that would exceed a 17+ age rating, for those who prefer a lighter experience, we will also include a menu option for those who wish to disable the game's "mature" content (this menu toggle will replace certain CGs with a fade to black).

New features in the July 27 release

We know that many of you have already been experiencing Idol Manager through the game's beta, but here's a small tease on what new features will be coming to Idol Manager when we release on July 27:

Mod support through Steam Workshop

As mentioned earlier in this post, Idol Manager is launching with mod support, including an editor that allows players to create mods that add their own files to the game, including visuals, music, along with entirely new scenes, characters, dialog scenes, and more.

Idol Manager will be offering Steam workshop support at launch. Mod creators can use Steam workshop to distribute their mods, and players can use Steam workshop to browse user-created mods and install them with the click of a button. Installing and playing with custom user-created content has never been easier!

Of course, this is just one possible option available to modders: those who wish to self-host mods outside of the Steam workshop system are free to do so.

Voice Acting and vocal music tracks

As we announced last month, the release version of Idol Manager will have voice acting, including the vocal talents of members of Akiba idol group Kamen Joshi!

Not only that, but the game will also feature two vocal theme songs sung by the members of Kamen Joshi!

In case you missed it: some of the game's voice acting and vocal music can be heard in the trailer that released last month. Check it out to get a tiny preview of what's coming in the full game!

Steam Achievements

The great thing about Steam isn't beating the games, it's showing everyone online that you did! Thanks to Steam achievements, you can let everyone viewing your Steam profile know about the impressive feats you've managed to pull off.

Localizations

For the duration of the beta, the game has only been available in English.  As noted earlier in this post, with the official release of the game on July 27, the game will be getting support for English, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese!

Mature content toggle

As noted in an earlier section, Idol Manager's release will contain certain "mature content," consistent with what would earn a "Mature" content from a ratings board like ESRB (which describes Mature content as "generally suitable for ages 17 and up").  For those who prefer a tamer experience, the game will also include a menu option that, when toggled off, will replace certain "mature" CGs with a fade to black.

Final Reminders

If you backed the Kickstarter for $25+, we'd like to include you in the game's credits: if you haven't already done so, please check your email for the survey and respond to let us know what name you'd like to be credited under. If you didn't receive the survey, please message us directly so that we can help out and get that situation resolved!

Additionally, last month, we released a questionnaire asking players for feedback based on their experience with the Idol Manager beta. We're thrilled with the huge number of you who took the time to respond and let us know your thoughts about the game. If you haven't done so already, you're also welcome to respond to the questionnaire with your feedback to let us know about your experience with the game so far!  Player feedback continues to be invaluable to us.

We're eagerly counting down the days until Idol Manager's release. This game began as a passion project, and we're so grateful that the game has been successful enough for us to devote so much of our time to working on the game and improving it in anticipation of the full release.  Thank you for helping to get us this far!

Idol Manager: Release date! Theme songs! Voice acting! And a new trailer!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Jun 05, 2021 at 10:26:22 PM

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since our last update, but we've been hard at work behind the scenes and we're excited to announce that we can finally reveal big news for Idol Manager's full release!

Before we get into the details, we have a small ask to make of our backers: we've created a questionnaire to collect feedback from our Kickstarter backers, and we'd be thrilled if you took the time to fill it out and tell us about your experience during Idol Manager's beta period. (The beta will continue to be available up until the game's release, so feel free to continue playing!) If you've played the beta, please consider taking the time to fill out the survey and let us know what you think!

With that out of the way, we have some big news to announce:

Idol Manager will be officially releasing on July 27!

We finally have a release date! Playism will be publishing the game on Steam on July 27. Steam codes for the full game being released to Kickstarter backers (and those who joined the beta after the Kickstarter) when the game is released. (The beta will continue to be available up to the game's official release on July 27.)

Idol Manager will feature theme songs and voice acting from idol group Kamen Joshi!

We're pleased to be collaborating with idol group Kamen Joshi (仮面女子, Mask Girls), a very thematic inclusion for Idol Manager! Both of the game's theme songs will be sung by the group.

Theme songs by Kamen Joshi:

  • Dreaming Days, lyrics by Hami, composed by Masaki Nagata, arranged by Hisao Sasaki
  • Masquerade Nights, lyrics by Hami, composed by Masaki Nagata, arranged by GAKU

Additionally, the game will feature the voices of 3 members of the group!

Did we mention that we have a new trailer?

You might have seen it earlier today during the Indie Live Expo livestream:

That's the biggest news we have to announce for the moment! We'll have more to announce about Idol Manager in the coming weeks.

If you pledged to receive the game's physical edition, please stay tuned for future details as we begin transitioning from our busy development phase and turn our focus to fulfillment and production. (If you've changed addresses since pledging the campaign, now would be a great time to update your shipping address, which you can do by requesting a survey link be emailed to you via this page. Please feel free to contact us with any questions if you run into issues when trying to update your address and we'll be happy to assist. We'll also be sure to send all backers a reminder at a later date at least 2 weeks in advance of shipping addresses being locked.)

As a reminder, we'd greatly appreciate it if you filled out the backer questionnaire to tell us about your experience with Idol Manager during the game's beta period.

Thank you for backing Idol Manager and supporting us in this incredible journey!

Idol Manager beta update #21: Dress to impress (now with 100% more in-game tutorial!)
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Mar 11, 2021 at 11:00:46 PM

Idol Manager's latest beta build is live and available for download via the game's itch.io page.

This update includes the addition of a long-awaited feature: the tutorial! If you've been waiting for the addition of an in-game tutorial to get started with the Idol Manager, wait no longer! (Feedback from new players is immensely valuable as we work to continue improving Idol Manager, so if you are trying out the game for the first time, be sure to drop by the beta forum and let us know what you think!)

For those of you who are already beta veterans, don't worry: this update has some new stuff for you, too. Are you ready to get stylish?

New clothing options for idols

Idols can now change their attire, with each idol getting a new dress option in 7 different colors/patterns.

To access the new styling menu, you'll need to build a dressing room and hire a stylist, then head over to the idol's profile card and click the "styling" button in the lower-right corner. (If you try to click the styling icon without meeting all of these requirements, you'll get a friendly tooltip reminder.)

CG gallery and career stats

You'll find a new option added to the main menu: "gallery."

Career stats

Under "stats," you can view your career game completion stats, including:

  • Dialog scenes
  • Dialog lines
  • Events
  • CGs
  • Endings

(Have you seen all of Idol Manager's endings yet? It might be worth taking a look at that checklist to find out if you missed any...)

CG gallery

Here, you can view all of the CGs you've unlocked, as well as any variants of the CGs you've unlocked. The CG variants viewing option is especially relevant for CGs that feature the main character and rival character, who both come in male/female variants. (Want to see what a particular scene would look like if you had chosen to play as a different gender or chosen a rival of a different gender, but don't want to start a new save file? Check out the gallery to take a peek at the world that might have been!)

Tutorial

When starting a new game, you have the option to enable the tutorial. The tutorial consists of a series of interactive prompts that will highlight various parts of the UI and guide you through the process of setting up your agency for the first time.

You can drag the tutorial UI window around, and you can quit at any time if you'd rather continue forward at your own pace. You can review the text of a tutorial you've previously viewed by clicking the "logbook" icon.

The tutorial covers a number of other topics that should be relevant to first-time players, like how to hire staffers and put them to work, and the basics of producing your first single. You can view a record of all tutorials on the "tutorial" tab on the main agency view (the "lightbulb" icon).

Do you think there's something we missed? Stop by the tutorial feedback thread in the beta forum and let us know! Your feedback is critical to helping us improve Idol Manager.

Improvements

Changes to the in-game notification system:

  • Redesigned Notifications popup
  • Replaced "Idol lost X mental stamina points for a mysterious reason" messages with messages that provide more info (e.g. "you heard a rumor that one of your idols started dating")
  • Fixed: getting spammed by notifications every Monday if you have many idols in your group

Hotkeys/shortcuts:

  • Z, X, C - to trigger promotion, performance or spa. (Note: these daily performance hotkeys overlap with some existing of the keybinds that are used for debugging, so if you have debugging tools/"cheats" enabled, these shortcuts won't work.)
  • Page Up - cycle to previous tab on the default agency screen.  (Switches between the tabs for idols, staff, activities, singles, etc.)
  • Page Down, Tab, Middle mouse button - cycle to next tab on the agency screen
  • Home, End - Open first/last tab (idol/settings)
  • Right mouse button - Close/Open tab
  • Esc - Close current tab (or open "settings" tab if no tab is currently open)

Other misc changes:

Scandal points now affect election results

Bug fixes

  • Fixed: "Phantasm Facade" task stuck in incomplete mode
  • Fixed: One of the CGs ("secret recording") not displaying if player and rival are not the same gender
  • Fixed: Cursor flickering on some computers
  • Fixed: The game could trigger Aya's route even if player selected Fujimoto's (you can check in the Stats if you finished the correct route)
  • Fixed: Notification settings not saving
  • Fixed: One of the story tasks to release 3 singles in one genre in one month didn't actually check the genre, just the number of singles
  • Fixed: Money tooltip didn't show theater profits
  • Fixed: Various bugs caused by returning to the main menu and starting a new game (e.g. your Rival's name carried over)
  • Fixed: You could break the new game popup by switching between genders too quickly
  • Fixed: Duplicate relationships showing in idol profile's bond tab
  • Fixed: Time freeze caused by socializing with the same idol too often
  • Fixed: Time freeze caused by idols being in a relationship with a non-existing idol
  • Fixed: Game could use player's character in some story events as a generic staffer
  • Fixed: Game could use a spriteless nameless idol in some events
  • Fixed: Elections - no idol reactions in the bottom left
  • Fixed: Elections - blurry UI
  • Fixed: Election getting stuck in an unfinished state after canceling a production task
  • Fixed: Election concert automatically starting after loading the game
  • Fixed: Idol snitching on herself ("phone unlocked" message)

As you may recall, at the end of last year we launched our biggest update yet. We're thrilled with the amount of feedback we've gotten since then, and we're grateful to the many of you who have helped us out by reporting bugs you've encountered. As always, please let us know in the forum bug thread if you run into any problems!

As for what lies ahead, we still have a few surprises in store that we'll be able to say more about at a later date, and we're eagerly anticipating the day when we get to share the details. Thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far!

We've got bug fixes (and answers to your frequently-asked questions!)
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jan 07, 2021 at 11:49:59 PM

Hey everybody! It's been a week since we pushed our big giant update for Idol Manager, which included the addition of story mode, among many other new features.

Over the past week, we've really enjoyed getting to see your feedback on many long-awaited features. During that time, we've also been hard at work pushing out a bunch of bug fixes. (A big thank you to the many of you who have helped us during this period by reporting the bugs you've found!) Of course, you'll need to update the game to benefit from all of these recent bug fixes, so if you're playing the beta, make sure that you're running the latest version! (For detailed patch notes on what exactly has been changed since the story update shipped a week ago, scroll down to the bottom of this post.)

Over the past week, in addition to all of your bug reports, we've gotten several common questions, so now seemed like an opportune time to put together an FAQ to address some of them.

Frequently asked questions

Q: How do I make sure I'm playing the latest version of the beta?

If you're participating in the beta via itch.io, you can install the itch.io app, which is a desktop program similar to programs like Steam that you can use to download the game and automatically install updates as soon as they go live. This should also save you the trouble of having to re-download the entire game each time a new update ships. (If you participated in the alpha via Steam, the Idol Manager beta should be a part of your Steam library, and Steam should download and install the updates automatically.)

Q: Will I lose my save files if I create a new install folder or update the game?

Save files are stored separately from the game install in your computer's appdata folder, and will not be affected if you delete or replace your game install. That being said, this is a beta, and you may encounter bugs that could affect your ability to progress -- we recommend that you create multiple save files just in case you run into any game-breaking bugs and want to revert to a previous save!

Additionally, beta update 20 (the big update that went live on December 30) added "story mode." The game still includes "free play" mode, which provides an experience similar to previous versions of the beta, with no story progressions. Any save files from older versions of the beta are "free play" save files; if you want to play story mode, you'll have to create a new save file.

Q: Are the debugging tools ("cheats") still in the beta?

Yes they are! Debugging tool shortcuts are currently disabled by default, but you can press F7 five times to access the debugging menu, which also unlocks a number of keyboard shortcuts which you can read about here.

Q: How do I participate in the beta?

Kickstarter backers who were part of the "intern" tier or higher can use the Steam key (sent when the alpha started in 2018) to to add Idol Manager to your library and access the latest version of the beta.  Backers who were part of the "student" (or "[early bird] student") tier were issued keys to participate in the beta via itch.io in 2019. Additionally, the beta is available directly for purchase via itch.io.

Q: I backed as part of the Kickstarter, but I lost my beta key / never got it

You can use this recovery form and enter the email address associated with your Kickstarter account to receive a link to the page where you can obtain the key that was sent to you. If you have any other trouble accessing your key, message us directly through Kickstarter and we'll be happy to assist.

Q: I'm participating in the beta via itch.io. When do I get a Steam key?

All beta participants will receive a Steam key once the game moves out of beta and the full game is available for purchase on Steam.

Q: I found a bug! What should I do?

We'd really appreciate it if you took the time to report it! (Even if you find a workaround for your particular bug, reporting the bug allows us to fix it so that other users won't be affected either.)

You can report a bug by posting in the beta forum, or emailing [email protected] with a description of the issue. When reporting a bug, please include a description of the issue  describe it in a way that would allow us to specifically pinpoint where the issue occurred, and steps that we could use to reproduce the issue you're reporting -- oftentimes, including a screenshot can be helpful.

Additionally, please include your save file. (You don't need to upload your save file if you're reporting something like a typo in the game's dialog, but please include your save file if you encountered an error that's specific to your gamestate.) Being able to look at your save file helps us figure out what caused the issue in the first place, which gets us a lot closer to coming up with a solution!

Q: Where is my save file located?

Your save file can be found in the following location:

Windows:

C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\LocalLow\Glitch Pitch\Idol Manager\data

Mac:

~/Library/Application Support/Glitch Pitch/Idol Manager/data/

The save file should be a file named save.json. (Story mode saves are located in the "story_mode" folder, free play saves are located in the "manual_saves" folder.) When sharing the file, you can simply upload save.json, no need to upload the entire folder.

Patch notes roundup

As we mentioned at the top of this post, we've put out several patches in the past week, which is all the more reason to make sure you've updated and are playing the latest version, especially if you run into one of the bugs that's been addressed in one of the patches! Here's the full patch notes:

Hotfix 1 (added December 31, 2020):

  • Closing the game during some events could remove story mode tasks in your auto save file
  • Some story events didn’t trigger after loading the game from a save file
  • You now need to press F7 five times to unlock cheats and debug menus
  • Fixed various issues with dating (wrong girl showing up to the date / never getting caught or getting caught too easily / broken music in one of the endings)
  • One of the endings could break if you clicked too quickly
  • Various small substory fixes: broken text formatting in a few lines, idol sprites overlapping each other

Hotfix 2 (added January 2, 2021):

  • Ramen cafe dialogue could ignore one of your previous decisions
  • ldol could request to center a specific single and then complain that she was chosen for it
  • Releasing a single with no marketing could cause a bunch of bugs
  • Awards show not starting after a character's speech
  • Idol showing up with a wrong or empty sprite in the postgame
